Fastener Recipes

In an attempt to help everyone through the tedium of being sheltered at home, US Fastener Sources wanted to provide some delicious recipes for our web visitors to try and hopefully generate some smiles. We hope you enjoy them!

"Cheater" Pickles

Ingredients

  • 1 qt. whole sour or dill pickles
    (Not Kosher-Type) Drained
  • 2 1/2 C. of Sugar
  • 1 Tsp. Celery Seeds
  • 1 Tsp. Mustard Seeds

Cut large pickles lengthwise into fourths, smaller ones in half. Drain! Mix sugar and "seeds", place in large glass or plastic bowl. Gently stir in pickles. Cover and refrigerate at least 24 hours, stirring several times to dissolve the sugar. Pack pickles in jars. Keep refrigerator up to a month.

Easy way to have "homemade" candied pickles.

Cole Slaw

Ingredients

  • 4 Tsp. Vinegar
  • 1/4 Tsp. of dry mustard
  • 1/4 Cup of Sugar
  • 1 Cup of Mayonnaise
  • 1/4 Tsp. of Salt
  • 2 Bags (10 oz. bags) fine shredded cabbage, chopped to 1/8 inch
  • 1/4 Cup of finely chopped carrots

Whisk vinegar, sugar, mustard and salt together until sugar is dissolved. Add mayonnaise and whisk to mix. Add cabbage and carrots. Mix to combine, refrigerate for 2 hours and serve.

Oatmeal Coffee Cake

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 Cup of boiling water
  • 1 Cup of quick-cook oats
  • 1 Cup of brown sugar
  • 1 Cup of white sugar
  • 1/2 Cup of shortening (I use Canola)
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1/2 Cup plain flour
  • 1 Tsp. soda
  • 1/2 Tsp. of salt
  • 1/2 Tsp. cinnamon, dash nutmeg and 1 Tbsp. of vanilla
  • Boil water add oatmeal and set aside to cool. Cream brown sugar, white sugar and shortening, add 2 eggs then add flour, soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla. Add cooled oatmeal.

    Pour into 13 x 9 pan (I spray with PAM). Bake at 350 degrees for 25 - 30 minutes. Test the top for firmness.

    Topping: 1 cup of brown sugar, I stick of butter (melted), 2 egg yolks, 1/2 cup of pecan chopped, 1/2 cup of coconut, 2 Tbsp of milk. Spread onto top of cake while hot, broil until lightly brown (I watch this very carefully!) ENJOY!

    Ham Delights

    Ingredients

  • 1/2 Lb. margarine
  • 3 Tbsp. poppy seed
  • 1 Tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 3 Tbsp. mustard
  • 1 med. onion or onion flakes
  • 3 pkgs. Party rolls
  • 1 Lb. boiled ham
  • 3/4 Lb. Swiss cheese
  • Cream margarine softened at room temperature, poppy seed, Worcestershire sauce, mustard and chopped onion. Split rolls in half (end to end). Spread tops and bottoms with creamed mixture. Place a layer of ham and a layer of cheese on the bottom of the rolls. Divide evenly over the 3 packages of rolls. Place top of package of rolls over ham and cheese. Wrap each package in foil. Bake 400 Degrees for 10 to 15 minutes. Serve while warm. Yields 60.

    "Bolts & Nuts" Party Mix

    Ingredients

  • 2 large cans of mixed nuts
  • 2 small cans of cashews
  • 1 Lb. of pecans
  • 1 box of Wheat Chex
  • 1 box of Rice Chex
  • 1 box of Corn Chex
  • 1 box of Bugles
  • 1 bag of pretzels
  • 2 Tbsp. garlic salt
  • 2 Tbsp. onion salt
  • 1 Tbsp. salt
  • 5 sticks of butter
  • 10 Tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • Mix well and bake 2 to 2 1/2 hours at 225°. Stir every few minutes. Great treat for football games! Go Bucks! BEAT Meechigan.
